upcycled bookcase

Now, this is just ugly…. 60s fiberboard paneling may be coming back in style, but not this stuff. It had to go! I thought about the space and came up with the idea to mount a fixed bookshelf in this unused sill.

I found a set of your standard particle board bookshelves on CL and salvaged them to create three custom slide fixed shelves to sit above the bed.

We used the  RevolutionPly plywood manufactured by Patriot Timber, which is made from 100% plantation and sustainable wood sources and contains absolutely no tropical hardwoods.

Currently RevolutionPly is roughly 1/2 the price of regular 1/4″ plywood and is ready to paint. Great product, but you can expect the price to go up soon, as the market discovers it.

The floating mid-century headboard was another CL find, that required some new spot veneers, but a gorgeous find.
